Economist Overview

Introduction and Overview

The Investment Outlook puts today's stock market in perspective. You will examine historical data on corporate earnings, the leading stock-market averages, and the price/earnings ratio in order to understand today's developments. Then you will learn how to retrieve public and private-sector reports from the web to build your own analysis of the most recent data. This historical grounding will assist your ability to rationally evaluate your stock market investments and improve your confidence in your judgment.

This course contains a cautionary tale about the excesses of the late 1990s and the bubble that burst in 2000. It does not purport to give investment advice. Always secure competent professional counsel before putting your capital at risk.
